World Oceans Day, celebrated annually on June 8th, is a global observance that aims to raise awareness about the importance of our oceans and promote their conservation. The oceans cover more than 70% of our planet's surface, providing vital resources, regulating climate, and supporting an incredible diversity of marine life.
On this day, people around the world come together to recognize the critical role oceans play in sustaining life on Earth and to highlight the pressing need to protect and preserve these precious ecosystems. It is a time for reflection, education, and action, as we strive to safeguard the health and well-being of our oceans for future generations.
Neeharika Roy who essays the role of Radha in Zee TV’s Pyaar Ka Pehla Naam Radha Mohan spoke to us about the importance of preserving the oceans and said, “Oceans are really important not just for us, but for the environment as well, and it has always been my favorite for some reason. Every time I visit, I don’t care about my outfit, nor my footwear, all I care about is experiencing the feeling of waves touching my feet. But it’s very sad that most of us tend to take mother nature's gift for granted and pollute the sea in multiple ways. I believe it is the responsibility of each one of us to keep the ocean clean and ensure we don’t harm marine life in any manner. According to me, World Ocean Day is a reminder for all of us that aquatic fauna needs our support, and exigently we need to take action.”
