The feud between Nayanthara and Dhanush has grabbed headlines since few days. This happened after some moments from the sets of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan made their way into the Netflix documentary of Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale. Dhanush sued Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan for using the clips and demanded Rs 10 crore as damages. In response, Nayanthara wrote a scathing letter for him on her social media handle. She said he was vile to target an outsider and self-made actress like her for such a small thing. Nayanthara even called him a product of nepotism, and said his gentle façade hid an exploitative personality. The letter of the actress was liked by Shruti Haasan, Gouri Kishan, Anupama Parmeswaran, Parvathy, Aishwarya Lekshmi and more.
Lawyer Rahul Dhawan who has been appointed by Nayanthara told Hindustan Times, “Our response is that there is no infringement or violation because what has been utilised by us in the docu series is not part of behind-the-scenes (from the film). The same is part of personal library, Therefore, this is not infringement." The three-second clip is part of their personal memories from the movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. It is not a part of official BTS of the movie. The blockbuster film was produced by Dhanush. It revived the career of the actress and also helped her meet Vignesh Shivan, who became the love of her life.
Fans of Dhanush posted on social media how the star suffered losses during the making of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan due to their alleged unprofessional behavior. Dhanush’s legal team had sent out a statement that read: “Advice your client to take down the content infringing my client's copyright over the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan by using the same in your client's documentary named Nayanthara Beyond the Fairytale within 24 hours, failing which my client will be forced to initiate appropriate legal action, including but not limited to seeking damages to a sum of Rs. 10 crores against your client and Netflix India."
