My parents were really excited to see me in a periodic show - Pankhuri Awasthy

Actress Pankhuri Awasthy, who was last seen on MTV India's Fanaah, will be seen in a different look on & TV's Razia Sultan. Pankuri is happy to have bagged a lead role on this show as the pretty actress was seen essaying a cameo role her previous show.

In conversation with us, Pankhuri talks about her character, acting in the historical show and more...

Talking about her character Pankhuri says, "I am portraying the character of Razia Sultan. Razia  is shown to be a simple girl following basic and contemporary values. The audience will relate to her as she takes a stand for the right thing. The show will trace the journey of Razia becoming Sultan.

She further adds, "Razia Sultan was the only lady emperor who has ruled India, so this itself adds responsibility on my shoulders. To carry this type of important character is a challenge for me but I am ready for it."

Pakhuri is overwhelmed to be part of this periodic show and is quite eager to work in the show as she says, "Fanaah was nearly over and in the meantime I started giving auditions for Razia Sultan from quite a long time. So I feel it was just a matter of time and I got selected for the show which I think was the best opportunity I have ever received. Also my parents were really excited to see me in a periodic show and they really wanted to see me doing such a period drama."

She is working with seasoned actor like Sooraj Thapar. When asked her about the same, Pankhuri says, "Yes, I am quite nervous as I am working with all experienced actors. They know their job very well and I am still learning from them. But while shooting on the set, they are very supportive and caring and also give me my time to make my shot perfect."
