'Murder Mystery' Was The Most Popular Title of 2019, Claims Netflix

Netflix is offering its own taken on the "year-end list," unveiling its most popular releases to hit the steaming service in 2019 in the United States.

Netflix's continues to be rather cryptic and at times rather open about its viewership and popularity of shows and films. It is no secret that the streamer doesn't release viewership but in the past few instances, it has been putting up ratings and details of some of its shows and films.

One of them was about Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston starrer Murder Mystery. The film released on Netflix in June and it went on to reveal that the film was watched by over 50 million viewers worldwide.

Now, according to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix is offering its own taken on the "year-end list," unveiling its most popular releases to hit the steaming service in 2019 in the United States.

Taking the No. 1 spot on Netflix's overall "most popular" list — which includes film and TV — is Murder Mystery. Apparently, it was viewers by 30,869,863 accounts viewed Murder Mystery in its first three days, which represented the biggest opening weekend ever for a Netflix film.

The next most popular title was the third season of Stranger Things, followed by the latest Michael Bay feature, 6 Underground, and Disney feature The Incredibles 2.

On the TV side, its most popular 2019 U.S. series list is topped by Stranger Things season three; The Witcher, Dark Horse comic series The Umbrella Academy; dramedy Dead to Me, the second season of former Lifetime original You among others.
