Munawar made me feel like a nineteen year old girl: Saisha Shinde of ‘Lock Upp’

Last weekend, ALTBalaji and MX Players’ show ‘Lock Upp’ witnessed a shocking eviction as renowned designer Saisha Shinde got eliminated from the show for disrespecting the host Kangna Ranaut. In the episode, Kangana was seen schooling Shinde over her behaviour, however, it didn’t go down well with Shinde and she got furious resulting in her eviction from the show.

India Forums got in touch with Saisha Shinde and asked her about her sudden eviction from the show. She said, “Well, I was shocked by my eviction and I only feared missing the friends that I made in the show. But, to my surprise, the moment I was out of the show, I sulked for ten minutes but after that, I was jumping with joy as I could see sunlight, meet new people. I met my family and also witnessed the fan love. I was floored and I’m very happy with the love that I have received from the show”.

Saisha wanted to educate the audience about a transwoman and that was the most important agenda that she had with her entry into the show, talking about the same, she said, “I was with a lot of celebrities in the show who are all well aware, well-read and well-travelled. However, they too didn’t really have a lot of knowledge about trans women. I educated them but I really felt awful when Payal stated that I play the trans card. Imagine if these celebs didn’t have the sensitivity to deal with the issue, how can I expect others to know the same. Having said that, my aim was to let people know that trans people are normal and they carry on with their daily chores just as any normal person does and I feel somewhere down the line, I have achieved it”

Talking about her crush and bond with Munawar Faruqui, Saisha said, “Munawar was the first person from the show who treated me like a girl. So, my transition started only a couple of years ago, and I’ve never felt the way Munawar made me feel. He had immense respect for me and he treated me like a girl. The way he treated me, I felt like a nineteen-year-old teenager in college. The way he used to pull my leg and our nok-jhoks; it’s like the cute fights that we’ve seen in movies or the ones that college-goers have. I felt very loved and respected and that’s why I developed a crush on him. I know, he is kind of short while I’ve got a different body type, but I feel, it’s not the physical attribute that matters but only how a person makes you feel”.

When asked about Nisha not taking a stand for her  (Saisha) while Payal claimed that she plays the trans card, Shinde added, “I was very upset when I came to know about the same from Muna. Eventually, I realized that probably it was Nisha’s game-plan to propagate that she supports me in front of me and other kaidis. Her not taking a stand in a one-to-one conversation with Payal goes to prove that she only showed that she cared about me and the cause to support trans women”.

When asked if she will return to the show and the game-plan, she stated, “Yes, I will be glad to return to the show. I’ve high regards for Kangana and always appreciated her way of hosting the show. When Muna spoke to me, I realized that I made a mistake. I would love to go back to the show and as far as my strategy is concerned, I’ve always believed that the best strategy is to have no strategy at all”.
