Movie Review: A temperamental and gut-wrenching delight with a high dose of Madness!

The exponential hike of lunatic behavior in Judgementall Hai Kya will make you go crazy... Ratings: **** (4/5)

Kangana Ranaut

Judgementall Hai Kya narrates the story through the eyes of Bobby (Kangana Ranaut) who is suffering from an acute personality disorder. The film revolves around a long span of her life as she is obsessed to expose the true personality of Keshav (Rajkummar Rao).

The emergence of psychological thrillers in Bollywood has been a profound yet unseemingly obscure journey. The upsurging demand for niche and quality content has been the need of the hour while the masses have been expecting a lot more than the makers have been dealing with. With the release of films like Andhadhun, Badla, Sonchiriya and more (since the past year); Judementall Hai Kya has substantially provoked the audience to change their learning pace and devour quality rather than quantity.

Bollywood has been marching towards the uncharted areas with a film like Judgementall Hai Kya. The fast-paced and high pitched volume of psychotic drama with the collaboration of well-written characters has been carefully incorporated. Considering Kangana and Rajkummar Rao back in action after the six years straight, the actors have gone in between the lines as they’ve brought soul to their characters. Yes, the film will knock you out with its simple yet vibrant storyline.

The distinct characteristics that set this film apart are the storyline and the lively dynamic characters. The writer Kanika Dhillon has done a terrific job simplifying the persona of every living figure in this film. In fact, what sets this film apart is the avoidance of unnecessary over the top sensationalized drama and dialogues which have been evident since the past. It is really necessary to crop down the unsettling dialogues which throw you out of the storyline when everything is laid out right in front of the audience.

RajKummar Rao and Kangana Ranaut

The film is directed by Prakash Kovelamudi who managed to solve the puzzle and set the pieces in the place right and where they belong. It is a perfect blend of background score that just dissolves with the on-going sequences on the screen. However, there are a few grey areas which tend to go out of the pitch which can be neglected.

Talking about Kangana; what sets her apart is her expressions! The actress has always managed to pull-off her aesthetic appearance as she cloaks herself with the characters. Meanwhile, Rajkummar’s dialogue delivery, the spontaneity and being able to live the character has always been a plus point for the actor who is a perfect candidate for such niche storylines. Perhaps, the two compliment each other in every possible way and maybe the duo can be called as the synonym for perfect.

Kangana Ranaut

On the contrary, the film is a one time watch as this physiological black comedy won't perform any magic while devouring it more than twice. And why would that be? Simply because all the pieces are right in front of you, and when you know when the climax kicks in, the film loses its touch. The film marks to impress the audience who have a taste for dark and high pitched storylines. Although, it's amazing to see Kangana and Rajkummar don the psychotic avatar. Yes, they are back and this time they mean to knock you out with their performance. Kudos to the team of Judgementall Hai Kya for an excellent and successful attempt. Rest assured.
