Mir Ranjan Negi in Palampur Express...

Mir Ranjan Negi, the inspiration behind the very popular movie Chak De India is all set for his second stint on Sony Entertainment Television.

The famous hockey player will be seen making a special appearance in Sony's Palampur Express, which is a story based on the life of the athlete Pavni. For the uninitiated, Negi was earlier seen as a participant in the second season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

According to our source, "Pavni's repeated attempts to grab an admission in Ila Singh's (Krutika Desai) Sports Academy have failed. However, she gets to know of a 'Fair & Lovely' sponsored running competition that is to take place. She also gets to know that Ila Singh who is one of the judges of the contest will be honoring the winner of the race with a seat at her academy. This is where Mir Ranjan Negi makes his appearance, and will be seen as one of the judges in the selection committee. The hockey player plays himself in the show".

"Pavni will go on to win this race, and will be awarded the trophy by Mir Ranjan Negi. Her win will ultimately force Ila Singh to accept her in her academy", adds our source.

When contacted, Mir Ranjan Negi confirmed his presence in the show, and said, "For the first time, I will be seen as an actor (smiles). It was tough for me to speak all those big lines, but I thoroughly enjoyed the shoot. I am the Chairman of the Selction Commitee for the race that is held. I am grateful to God that he always gives me a chance to do different things. When I got a call from the channel, I readily agreed to be a part of this show, as this is also a sports based serial".

Negi has started shoot from today, and the competition will be aired sometime next week..
