Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau recently announced that the Canadian government will be extending help to India and will be giving 10 Million Canadian dollars (₹60 crore) to our country to help with the purchase of ambulances and PPE kits, amid a huge surge of COVID- 19 cases.

The funds are being provided to the Canadian Red Cross, which will transfer it to the Indian Red Cross Society.

On Tuesday, Trudeau said, “It’s something the Canadians are extremely concerned about as we see the terrible and tragic images coming out of India. We know we have to be there for our friends.”

It came after Canada’s foreign minister Marc Garneau spoke to India’s external affairs minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday to offer Ottawa’s assistance during the escalating crisis.

“We are there to support in any way we can, and those conversations are very much ongoing,” Trudeau said.

Also, there is package of physical materials being worked on, which will include oxygen concentrators, ventilators and pharma products from Canada’s emergency stockpile as Ottawa has assured India during a dialogue between the governments of its solidarity and commitment to render all aid possible.

However now, actress Minissha Lamba has reacted to the news of Justin helping India and has tweeted him and requested the Canadian PM to not send money to India but to send things worth the money. In her tweet she shared that India needs resources more than money as we aren't even finding things like oxygen cylinders even though people have money. So it makes more sense to send medical aid and other things instead of the money.

In her tweet she wrote: "Dear Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau thank you (Folded Hands emoji) for the aid you are providing to my country India. I have a humble request... If you can, instead send 10 million dollars worth of vaccines, oxygen, Remdesivir, testing kits ppe kits. That's what we desperately need in India (3 Folded Hands emoji)

When contacted the actress, she clarified her stance and shared that she is gravely concerned about the situation in India. It's the worst hit in the world currently.

She said,

I did tweet to Prime Minister Trudeau to send in things and resources in place of the money. We are in shortage of remdesivir, oxygen cylinders, etc and we can't find them even though we have the money sometimes. It would be more worthwhile if we get resources right now. It's a time where the pandemic is at its horrific worst. And any help during these times can save lives. If we can ask what we need it could be critical. Let's all stay indoors and stay safe. This too shall pass but we are in the middle of it right now and we have to stay strong and follow all SOPs.

- Minissha Lamba

That's an important message to end by Minissha. We ought to save lives and we can do that by staying indoors right now.
