Mercy For None: Jo Ji Sub's thriller series described by fans as 'exhilarating ride'; rated in best of 2025

While Mercy For None released with hardly any hype on Netflix, the show has managed to impress from day one. It is the comeback of Doctor Lawyer actor Jo Ji-Sub who is one of the veterans of the industry. A noir crime thriller, Mercy For None is about a deadly assassin Nam Gi-jun who is back to avenge the death of his brother, Nam Gi-seok. As he sets off to kill the person who orchestrated the death of his brother, he gets entangled in a world he had left behind. Edgy, brutal and violent, Mercy For None unabashedly shows the world of crime and the order it follows.

Fans who saw the first episode said they could not take their eyes off Jo Ji Sub as Nam Gi-jun. The actor brings an intensity that is an absolute treat to watch. After a soft romantic character in Love Scout, Lee Jun-Hyuk steps into the role of a ruthless ambitious executive who eyes the throne. Though it is a cameo, he does great. There is truly no mercy in the series as the characters prepare for a violent end. The physical fights are wonderfully choreographed in narrow spaces. They will remind you of films like Oldboy. Many are saying it is like John Wick in terms of its action. After Trauma Code: Heroes On Call and When Life Gives You Tangerines, this seems to be one of the good Korean dramas of 2025.
