The maestro of horror films in Bollywood – Vikram Bhatt has been on a promotional spree for his upcoming film Ghost. The director has offered some of the most commendable films like – Raaz, 1920, 1920: Evil Returns. But, despite offering his best the director says, “My films have never worked beyond Parel.”

Bhatt has come across several stereotypes until now and these clichés have always hinted at the tussle between horror films in Hollywood vs Bollywood.

Horror films that still remain the uncharted territories in Bollywood have found its roots since the inception of this film industry yet there are hardly any breakthroughs in the field.

During a recent interaction about ghosts, Vikram Bhatt was quizzed about why the audience in India is strongly inclined towards horror films that are made in Hollywood. And is the gap between Hollywood and Bollywood horror films bridging?

To which the director had only one answer; he said, “No, it has never been bridged.”

He added, “Those who believe in Hollywood, they will always believe in Hollywood. Who watch our films have always watched our films. I always say, 'My films have never worked beyond Parel', and from Parel to rest of India it still works. But there has always been a set of audience who will always watch conjuring. This specific audience thinks that if a priest is performing an exorcism holding a bible, they think of it as very cool.

“But on the contrary, if a pandit is performing the same ritual they’ll say ‘how LS man. This is so uncool, who does this.’ There has always been an audience who think Pandit is uncool and priests are cool. So I can’t do anything about this, because if someone doesn’t know the power of our god is consider them unfortunate," he added.

Bhatt’s upcoming film – Ghost has been inspired by true events which starrs Shivam Bhaargava and Sanaya Irani. The film is all set to release on October 18, 2019.
