Megha Ray speaks on 'Sapnon Ki Chhalaang' drawing audiences without relying on romance

Megha Ray, who currently portrays the character of Radhika in Sony TV's show 'Sapnon Ki Chhalaang,' has been receiving immense love and appreciation for her exceptional portrayal. The realistic storyline and well-developed characters of Sapnon Ki Chhalaang have contributed to its widespread acclaim.

During an exclusive conversation, Megha shared insights into her preparation and research for the role of Radhika. She expressed, "Initially, I dedicated myself to thorough research. I delved into understanding Radhika's behaviour and contemplated how I would approach situations as someone from a small town. I engaged with people, seeking their experiences, and keenly observed the excitement that small-town residents exhibit when visiting a city. These observations became valuable mental notes for me. Being from Orissa, my proficiency in Hindi was not excellent. However, my director provided significant assistance, and I have been steadily improving. I must commend the dialogue writers for their exceptional work. Radhika's dialogues and dialect have facilitated my understanding of the subtler aspects of language."

When asked about the similarities between herself and Radhika, the actress revealed, "We share several similarities. As I mentioned earlier, I, too, have experienced personal growth in a nurturing but demanding environment. Just like Radhika, I have faced pressure and strived to prove myself. Additionally, being the only daughter in my family, I have always been sheltered and protected, which is another commonality between Radhika and me."

Continuing the conversation, we inquired about the show's departure from typical daily soap conventions and its ability to captivate audiences without relying on a romantic angle. We also asked Megha if there would be a romantic interest in her character. In response, she expressed, "Honestly, as Megha, I am eager to witness how Radhika's life unfolds. Like myself and many other women, romance is not a priority for us. It does not define our goals or aspirations. Radhika represents the kind of independent woman I admire. Our show aims to break conventions, and whether there will be a romantic interest in Radhika depends on the viewers' preferences. If the audience embraces our unique narrative, I believe our show can transcend the typical daily soap formula on television."
