Meerabai, daily prime time on Imagine

Meerabai is the new venture of Sagar Arts for NDTV Imagine. It was reported that the show is slated for a weekend slot. However, the latest development is that the show will get a prime time slot and will be a daily.

"Yes it's a daily and a prime time slot. The channel is finalizing on the time slot. Meerabai will be launched after IPL," says Moti Sagar.

Meerabai will focus on the childhood days of the princess and her journey ahead. "Shriya Sharma is finalized to play the young Meerabai and the production is looking for a new face to play the elder version of Meerabai," states the source.

Born in the early 16th century, Meerabai belonged to the royal family of Mewar. She renounced the luxuries of royal life and became an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna. Meera composed many devotional songs in praise of Lord Krishna which are sung to this day with great reverence throughout the country. She died at the feet of Lord Krishna of Dwaraka at the age of 67.
