'Mangal Lakshmi itna popular hoga ye nahi socha tha': Deepika Singh on viewers finally accepting her as Mangal

Deepika Singh, the leading lady of Colors TV's 'Mangal Lakshmi, has been ruling the channel as her show has been securing record breaking ratings on the TRP charts week after week. While the actress is loved as Mangal by the audience today, Dipika rose to immense popularity with her debut show 'Diya aur baati hum' years ago. The actress, who essayed the character of IPS Sandhya Rathee on the show is even today called by the said name by viewers who watched the show back then.

In a recent chat with India Forums, we asked the actress if she was confident about breaking the image of Sandhya Rathee when she was offered Mangal Lakshmi and whether she believed that the audience will finally accept her in a new role. Speaking of the same, Deepika states that when she auditioned for the role of Mangal, she had decided to give her best to the character and the show. She says, ''Main bahut confidence rakhti hoon apne aap mein. Mujhe lagta hai ke hardwork ko beat karna bahut mushkil hota hai. Shuru se, jis tarah ki insan main rahi hoon aur jis bhi show mein maine kaam kiya hai chahe Diya aur baati ho ya kuch aur, main bahut dil se kaam karti hoon aur bahut hi barik level pe kaam karti hoon. Mujhe apne kaam pe bahut bharosa hota hai. Baaki sab toh story ke haath mein hota hai, puri team ke hath mein hota hai.''

Deepika further reveals that she had no idea that the show would work or not, ''Ye kaamyaab hoga ya nahi ye mujhe nahi pata tha but maine ye socha tha ke jab maine ye show join kiya tha ke main is kirdar ko itne dil se nibhaungi ke ye kirdar logo k dilo mein reh jayega, ek chaap chhod jayega. Maine prayers bhi ki thi aur bahut mehnat bhi but kahi na kahi itna popular hoga ke 2.2/2.1 ki TRP main dekh paungi ye maine kabhi nahi socha tha, ye meri chahat thi, ye possible ho payega ye maine nahi socha tha. Iska credit meri audience ko jaata hai, mere jitne bhi pyaar karne wale log hai, mere mummy papa, sabka ashiward, meri puri team ko jaata hai.''
