Sankranti, Pongal, Uttarayan, Lohri... might be many names of the same festival but the sentiments remain the same in the hearts of people across India. Bollywood and the Television industry has always celebrated this festival of kites with much fanfare and enthusiasm. Adding to the spirits and festivities, The Voice India kids recently celebrated Makar Sankranti with the four musical coaches - Shaan, Papon, Palak Muchhal and Himesh Reshammiya along with the host, Jay Bhanushali. Since the contestants belong to different parts of the country, it was beautiful to see all of them coming together to celebrate the very first festival in this New Year.

As per the sources present on the set, the coaches were seen in high spirits and it was difficult to recognize the kids from the adults. Shaan and Himesh were seen reliving their old days and enjoying the moment by singing old songs like Nikamma kiya iss dil ne', Yeh Shyam Mastani' amongst others. While coach Palak was being mentored by the kids on flying kites, Papon proved he is a pro at this as well. The colourful kites just added to the mood on the set and the celebrations were completed with the customary til-gul laddoos. The whole activity not just proved to be a much deserved break for everyone, but also saw an emotional bond being formed between the coaches and contestants alike.

Talking about his experience, Papon said, "I love this festival of Makar Sankranti. Back in Assam, it's known as Magh Bihu. We celebrate the New year by harvesting the crops and then we indulge into making rice cakes which we call as Pitha. We celebrate the joyous occasion by lighting Bonfire and the next morning, we apply tikka from the ashes of the bonfire to wash away all the things from the past and give a fresh start to the new year. I wish all my fans and followers a very ecstatic Makar Sankranti."

Festivities does bring everyone together and closer to each other! Here's wishing everyone a Happy Makar Sankranti!
