Himesh Reshammiya, known for his unique singing style, performed to a packed crowd at Mumbai’s Jio World Garden on 31 May as part of his Cap Mania Tour. During the live performance, Himesh didn’t shy away from addressing years of criticism about his nasal voice. Instead, he turned it into a moment of connection with the audience.
While singing Aashiq Banaya Aapne, a video captured him pausing mid-performance and asking the crowd, “Thoda regular gaaun ya naak se gaaun?” The crowd erupted, urging him to sing in his iconic nasal tone. Himesh, with a grin, asked again, “Are you sure?” before diving into the next few lines in his signature style. The crowd responded with cheers and applause, clearly embracing what had once been a point of mockery.

Speaking to Pinkvilla, he had said, “Aaj toh nasal ki baat bhi nahi kar rahe hain. Many people did nasal singing after me; so many of my songs became hits.”
He went on to explain that for him, it was never just about the technique. “Even though I call it nasal singing today, for me, it was never nasal — it was high-pitched singing. It was a cry for help! In the Aashiq Banaya video, the guy is actually crying in pain, singing, as well as dancing…”
The Mumbai concert was attended by several known faces, including filmmaker Farah Khan and actor Veer Pahariya. The audience’s response was electric throughout the evening. Himesh later shared a post on Instagram saying, “Jai MATADI Let’s Rock 🙏?? Thank you for the historic response to our sold-out show at JIO Garden BKC.” He also thanked fans for supporting his recent track Dil Ke Taj Mahal Meinn from Badass Ravi Kumar.
Meanwhile, Badass Ravi Kumar, in which Himesh also acted, didn’t fare too well commercially. The film earned around ?10.98 crore worldwide and received mixed reviews. Following the success of his Mumbai performance, Himesh is now preparing for his next stop — Delhi — where he will continue his Cap Mania Tour on 19 July.
