Maheep Kapoor tells KJo that Shanaya was traumatized after debut got shelved; netizens say, 'Stop Whining'

After Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor and Ananya Panday, Karan Johar was supposed to launch Shanaya Kapoor. She was supposed to be starring in Bedhadak with Lakshya Lalwani and Gurfateh. But the project did not take off. Some months later, there were rumours of Karan Johar launching her in Student Of The Year 3, which would be a web series. But there is not much headway in that as well. However, Shanaya Kapoor has a great presence on social media. She has been endorsing some top cosmetic and apparel brands despite not making her official debut as yet.

In an episode of Fabulous Lives Vs Bollywood Wives, Maheep Kapoor gets candid with Karan Johar on her daughter’s debut being shelved. She says Shanaya Kapoor was traumatized. She also revealed how the family went through a tough phase as Maheep Kapoor’s mother was unwell. Sanjay Kapoor’s missus says Karan Johar had to explain things to Shanaya Kapoor when the movie did not happen. Netizens are not amused with Maheep Kapoor using the word trauma. They feel despite having no films, Shanaya is getting immense visibility. Also, millions have to struggle really hard to get a project in the industry.

People have called her out on Reddit. A person commented, “Mam, stop whining and waiting but make her do something on her own and carve her own path. Your whining tone sounds like Karan launched Alia, Ananya and now he is doing injustice to Shanaya!”

Other said such conversations made the mother and daughter duo come across as very entitled. The person wrote, “The struggles of living a privileged life… throwing tantrums when you don’t get what you want…. privileged mommies complaining to an Ace director her daughter is traumatised by the lack of opportunities…this happens only in India. This is not a professional film industry, this is a family run business and it’s embarrassing.”
