Lyricist Maya Govind passes away due to a heart attack

Veteran lyrircist Maya Govind passed away earlier this morning at her residence in Mumbai. The lady was 82 years old and was undergoing treatment for a brain clot for the past four months. Her son, Ajay talked about it with ETimes where he mentioned that she has also developed a urine infection that complicated things further.

"She was deteriorating slowly because the clot in her brain was causing her problems. At times, it seemed like her condition would improve but then it would get worse. We brought her home from the hospital about a month and half back, so that we could take better care of her. This morning she passed away after suffering a heart attack," he said.

Maya Govind was married late writer-director Ram Govind who wrote and directed 'Tohfa Mohabbat Ka'. She had penned a number of songs including 'Aankhon Mein Base Ho Tum', 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari', 'More Ghar Aaye Sajanwa', 'Gutur gutur' to name a few.

Her last rites will be held at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Mumbai today at 5 pm.
