Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’s Kiran Dubey says she hasn’t received any call for the reboot yet

As Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi gears up for its grand return on Star Plus from July 29, excitement is building among fans who grew up watching the original hit. The new season will see the return of iconic characters Tulsi and Mihir, played by Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay.

With the buzz around the show’s comeback, veteran actress Kiran Dubey, who was part of the original Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi for over two years, has shared her thoughts in a conversation with IANS. The actress reflected on her time with the show and spoke about whether she might be seen in the reboot.

Speaking to IANS, Kiran said she hasn’t been approached for the show yet but praised the decision to bring it back. She said, “I was a part of Kyunki Saas Bhi... for about two and a half years and it was a wonderful experience. I’ve heard the show is coming back, but I haven’t received any calls yet. If they approach me with an interesting track, I’ll definitely consider it. As for Smriti ji, I don’t know the reason for her return given her political career, but I’m sure she has her reasons. As you said, the audience has changed. Even Ramayan would face competition today. But Kyunki Saas Bhi... has a strong identity and loyal viewership. I’m sure Ekta Kapoor has a great story in mind if she’s relaunching it.”

Kiran also spoke about why she stepped away from television despite being part of top-rated shows like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. She mentioned wanting to focus on herself and her personal journey.

She explained, “Yes, I’ve done many shows, including some of the top ones. But I’ve always felt that my life should be a priority. I wanted to take some time to explore myself—my life and my spirituality—and to understand myself better. After working nonstop for nearly a decade, I felt it was necessary to step back for a while”

Although Kiran Dubey’s return to the reboot is still uncertain, her support for the show and fondness for its legacy shine through. As the makers gear up for a fresh chapter, the cast will feature several well-known faces, including Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan, Shakti Anand, Kamalika Guha Thakurta, Shagun Sharma, Rohit Suchanti, Aman Gandhi, Ankit Bhatia, and Tanisha Mehta.
