Kriti Sanon was told ‘Shaadi Nahi Hogi’ during Beginning of Acting Career

An engineer turned actress, Kriti Sanon faced her share of struggles in the film industry. She made her debut in Telugu cinema in 2014 and soon ventured into Bollywood as well. Her debut performance alongside Tiger Shroff in 2014 film Heropanti was lauded and loved by fans.

Bareilly Ki Barfi turned out to be a breakthrough for Kriti, post which the actress featured in films like Stree, Luka Chuppi, Arjun Patiala, Housefull 4, and most recently in  Ashutosh Gowariker’s Panipat co-starring Arjun Kapoor.

While Kriti has successfully made her place in the film industry, it was not a smooth ride for her. In a recent chat with Pinkvilla, she reveals the judgments she faced from her own friends and relatives.

"There was a point when I had just thought of coming to Mumbai and trying in films. Then, there were a few relatives and friends felt, 'I don't think it's going to work, industry achhi nahi hai. Bohut log struggle kar rahe hai; shaadi nahi hogi tumhari jaldi. I have heard things like that. A lot of that” Kriti shared.

However, that is history and Kriti has delivered some commercially blockbuster films and acted against some notable names in the industry. She also has managed to bag herself a content driven film like MiMi as well, that deals with the growing practice of surrogacy in India. 

Speaking of the same, Kriti reveals that the outlook of the same people who judged her earlier has changed. "Today, the same people talk to me like they're really proud of me which they are. It obviously feels great. I have come from nowhere and I never had thought of becoming an actor. I was an engineer and this wasn't the space I had thought of at all." 

Meanwhile, MiMi is the remake of the National Award-winning 2011 Marathi film Mala Aai Vhhaychy!, and features Kriti Sanon in the lead role of a surrogate mother, alongside Pankaj Tripathi and Sai Tamhankar.
