Kim Soo-Hyun Case: Has Kwon Young-Chan stepped aside from Kim Sae-Ron matter; police case filed on Garosero

Kim Soo-Hyun’s case that begun in the first week of March 2025 has been ongoing since 67 days. The actor who became a worldwide rage with Queen Of Tears was accused of dating late actress Kim Sae-Ron when she was below the legal adult age as per Korean laws. Kim Sae-Ron died on February 16, 2025 the same day as his birthday. The bereaved family of the actress alleged that she was pressurized to pay 700 million Korean won to Goldmedalist even though she was out of work and struggling. They also alleged that Kim Soo-Hyun through YouTuber Lee Jin-Ho wrote defamatory articles about her in media. But the most shocking one was that Kim Soo-Hyun dated Sae-Ron when she was below 19. There is an age gap of 12 years between him and the deceased actress.

In 67 days, Kim Soo-Hyun held just one press conference where he admitted to dating her in 2019-2020 when she was 19-20 years of age. He has also filed a lawsuit of 12 billion Korean won on them. He has dismissed the rest as baseless slander. On the other hand, Kim Se Ui, Kwon Young-Chan and lawyer of Kim Sae-Ron’s family Bu Ji-Seok did two meetings with the press, and numerous YouTube lives where they spoke about alleged underage grooming, Kim Soo-Hyun’s agency Goldmedalist’s alleged shady business ventures and how this controversy could be as big as the Nth room scandal. On the other hand, Kim Soo-Hyun filed multiple lawsuits on these people through LKB, the same firm dealing with impeachment of President Yoon.

However, Lee Jin-Ho and one more legal team made videos to counter the claims of Garosero Research Lab. They also spoke about how Kim Sae-Ron allegedly sought the services of a shaman to revive her career, her issues with an abusive husband and son. The family initially denied the marriage and abortion but later the husband revealed his side to Garosero.

The last part was him playing a recording where Kim Sae-Ron tells an informant that she first had physical relations with Kim Soo-Hyun when she was in 8th grade. This means she would be around 14-15 years of age. After initial claims of them discussing her ‘first kiss’ at age of 17-18, this was a new version. However, troubles for Garosero Research Limited mounted after this video. Many experts said this voice of Kim Sae-Ron looked heavily fabricated by AI. But the big blow came when journalist Kang Kyung-yoon who was alleged to be knowing the informant in the US denied any trip to the country. She even shared her immigration records as proof. Now, she has sued Kim Se-Ui for just dragging her name.

In the meantime, Kim Soo-Hyun’s side (including fan bases) hired lawyers to conduct investigation into Kim Sae-Ron’s lawyer Bu Ji-Seok for his unethical practices. After an initial procedure, Seoul police have decided that he needs to be investigated further. Even Kim Se-Ui is under the scanner of the cops for complaints of harassment.

Now, Kwon Young-Chan who said he was forming a committee to stop celeb suicides in South Korea seems to be stepping aside from the matter. He said in his last stream that it could be possible that Kim Soo-Hyun and Kim Sae-Ron dated as adults.

With the matter being in Court, one needs to see how many allegations are actually proven. There are rumours that Garosero is falling short of Government support, which could be crucial for him. Now, only time will conclude whether Kim Soo-Hyun is guilty of the big allegations thrown at him.
