Dharma Productions decided to re-release the cult favorite film, Kal Ho Naa Ho, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, and Saif Ali Khan after 21 years. This move has generated significant excitement among fans, who are rushing to theaters to relive the magic of these beloved stars in this iconic film. The box office numbers are showing promising results, with the romance movie, originally premiered in 2003, reportedly grossing Rs 3 crore in the first 10 days of its re-release.
As per a report from Pinkvilla, Kal Ho Naa Ho showed improved performance in its second weekend compared to the first. The film reportedly saw a 30 percent increase in revenue over the last three days, contributing Rs 1.13 crore to its overall earnings. The report states that the movie made Rs 77 lakh in its initial weekend and added Rs 1.25 crore during the weekdays. By the end of the first week, the film had accumulated around Rs 2.02 crore in India.
On the 8th day, the movie made Rs 17 lakh, starting its second weekend. It witnessed a significant jump on the 9th day, raking in Rs 45 lakh. Finally, on the 10th day, it surpassed Rs 1 crore in its second weekend by earning Rs 51.50 lakh, as per reports. In total, Kal Ho Naa Ho has now collected over Rs 3 crore net in India by the end of its second weekend.
When discussing the film's production and the relevance of its story in today's context, director Nikhil Advani shared his thoughts with a media portal, “Earlier, we could make a Kal Ho Naa Ho and no one used to care how much it was made for and how it’s doing. It was made for Rs 32 crore.If you talk in terms of the inflation today, it would have made more than Rs 1000 crore."
The movie hit the screens on November 28, 2003. Alongside the main stars Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and Preity Zinta, the cast featured Jaya Bachchan, Sushma Seth, Reema Lagoo, and more. Yash Johar produced it under the Dharma Productions banner, and the music was crafted by Shankar-Ehsaan Loy.
