Junior Mehmood passes away after prolonged battle with stomach cancer

It won't be a happy start for everyone today as news has come in that veteran character actor, Junior Mehmood (Mehmood Jr.) has passed away. The actor, as we reported was fighting a prolonged battle with stomach cancer and in the past few days, his health kept deteriorating consistently.

The actor was undergoing treatment at the Tata Memorial Hospital in Parel initially but was then recuperating at home. But due to constant fall in the condition, he was put on oxygen support until he breathed his last.

His close friend, Salam Kazi broke the news to ETimes earlier.

As one knows, Junior Mehmood, born Naeem Sayyed was one of the most loved comedians and character actors in yesteryear films and is best remembered for films like Mera Naam Joker, Haathi Mere Saathi and others.

The name of 'Junior Mehmood' was given to by him by none other than the late legend Mehmood Ali himself which later became the name everyone credited him and knew him by.
