Julia Roberts gets replaced by Janelle Monae for Homecoming season 2

The first season of homecoming created a lot of buzz as it had Julia Roberts starring in it and the story line too was gripping. Adopted from a podcast, Homecoming was about the life of a worker-turned-waitress Heidi Bergman (Roberts) as she struggles to remember her time working at a facility that treats soldiers returning from war.

After season one ended with good reviews, the second season was very much awaited. But the grapevines just went abuzz that Roberts has opted out of the series this time. As per the reports of a leading entertainment portal, the Oscar winning actress has now been replaced by actress Janelle Monae. 

For the second season of Homecoming, Monae will essay the role of a tenacious woman who finds herself floating in a canoe with no memory of how she got there or who she is. Janelle is  popular actress-singer-songwriter and an activist. As for Julia Roberts, she will continue to be the executive producer of Homecoming through her production company, Red Om Films. The series is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Universal Content Productions.
