It is never heartening when a show goes off-air in less than a few months after coming on air. But this gets all the more sad when the show in question is a sequel to a longrunning success. That is the case with Star Bharat's Sasural Genda Phool 2.
The show, as we know is a sequel to Sasural Genda Phool and went on-air back in December. However, in less than four months, the show is all set to call it a wrap and go off-air. Leading man Jay Soni is obviously disappointed with the same but he believes in moving on and is proud o f the show they made.
Talking about it with ETimes TV, Soni said, “Yes, the show is ending but I have no complaints or regrets. We made a good show. It’s just that we couldn’t get the audience we had expected. There could be multiple reasons. You can’t pin the blame on anyone in particular. Everything was in place and I am proud of the team associated with the show. Also, I can’t comment on how one gets the audience, as I don’t understand that aspect. As far as I am concerned, I got good feedback from people who watched the show. The makers have appreciated my work because Ishaan (Jay’s character in SGP) in the second season was different from the previous one. So, the actor in me is happy.”
He adds, “I am obviously sad and disappointed but one has to accept it. It takes time to sink in but jitna jaldi kar lo achha hai. Whatever starts will end someday. You can’t do anything about what’s beyond your control, especially when you know that you are doing everything right. As an actor, I strive to be loyal to my work. Despite the development, no one in the team has become complacent. We are still very positive and working with conviction. Kabhi paasa padta hai toh padd jaata hai aur kabhi nahi padta toh naho hota hai.”
Though the show is shutting down, the actor will always be proud of this association. He says, “I know I gave my best. I am very proud of SGP 2 and will always be. People say a lot of things when a show ends but my reply will be ‘ Kuchh toh log kahenge’. Such comments don’t bother me anymore. It would have really affected me if someone had to say that my performance wasn’t up to the mark. Acting is my passion. It’s not just about reporting on a set and exiting it at a fixed time and signing the log. My focus is on delivering a good performance and that’s exactly what I did in SGP 2 as well.”
We are sure the fans will miss the sequel as much.
