Jay Soni replaces Sorab Bedi as lead in Dilwali Dulha Le Jayegi

Actor Jay Soni has officially joined the cast of the television show Dilwali Dulha Le Jayegi, stepping into the lead role of Kartik, previously played by Sorab Bedi. This casting change comes a little over a month after the show’s launch.

Jay who played Abhinav Sharma in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, talking to Times of India said that he has not been informed about the reason behind Sorab Bedi’s exit and has chosen not to ask the makers about it.

Speaking about replacing another actor in an ongoing show, Jay said he doesn’t dwell on such matters. He shared that his focus is only on doing his job well, whether he is playing a new role or stepping into someone else’s shoes. According to him, overthinking situations like these can impact performance negatively, so he prefers to concentrate on giving his best on screen.

Jay also mentioned that he had no hesitation about joining the show so early into its run. In his view, television today does not follow a fixed formula for success. He added that it doesn’t matter when an actor joins a show—what counts is the honesty and effort one puts into the role. “As an actor, I just want to do my job sincerely and leave the rest to destiny,” he said.

With a strong background in television, Jay Soni has appeared in several well-known shows like Sasural Genda Phool, Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi, Bhaag Bakool Bhaag, and Gudiya Hamari Sabhi Pe Bhari. He is known for his versatility and charming screen presence. This new role marks his return to daily soaps after a gap of nearly two years.

Jay had previously spoken about being typecast in similar roles, which led him to consciously try different characters to grow as an actor. With this opportunity, he is looking forward to bringing something fresh to the table.
