Mumbai, March 11 (IANS) Japanese designers who have flown down to Mumbai to showcase their collection at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) were Friday extremely upset after hearing the news about the earthquake that hit Japan's northeastern region.
Designers Motonari Ono, Sara Arai and Tamae Hirokawa had their show Friday, but the calamity that has hit their country was uppermost in their minds.
'We are very worried about what happened in Japan. Because of the show today, we are not very well informed, exactly what has happened and what all regions have been affected and how badly. But we are really worried about our country back there. This is very upsetting,' Sara Arai told IANS.
'We have contacted family and friends and thankfully they are fine. I hope everything becomes fine,' added Motonari.
An 8.9-magnitude earthquake, hit Japan's northeastern Honshu island today. Over 300 homes were knocked down by the quake-triggered tsunami in the region.
The designers said they were eager to go back to be with their families at this time of crisis.
