Janhvi Kapoor made her debut in 2018 alongside Ishaan Khatter in Shashank Khaitan's Dhadak, which was the official remake of Nagraj Manjule's Sairat. The film did well, both commercially and critically, and Janhvi was in the limelight as it was the first time the audiences could see Sridevi’s daughter on screen.
However, in a recent interview, Janhvi expresses her dissatisfaction with her performance in Dhadak. “I think I lacked confidence and my language was an issue. I think I was a little stiff in places. I think that one thing I had working for me is that I tried to bring a lot of honesty and sensitivity to it. I think the emotionality of it was in the right place” she told BBC Asian Network.
She continued, “Maybe it was all heart but it lacked a lot of technical understanding and a lot of finesse. I lacked technical understanding and maybe my skill set wasn’t as polished. It’s weird saying this about myself but I think I felt honest onscreen.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Janhvi already has five big films in her kitty. With the release of Dostana 2 this year and Gunjan Saxena Biopic, Roohi Afza opposite Rajkummar Rao, Takht, and Rannbhoomi awaiting in the next year, Janhvi has her calendars full.
However, owing to the ongoing Coronavirus outburst, the shootings are stalled and work has come to a standstill. Janhvi is making most of this quarantine time by brushing up her painting skills!
