Jamai No 1's Abhishek Malik believes hustle never ends in an actor's life: 'It just changes shape'

Actor Abhishek Malik, who is seen as Neel in Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah’s Jamai No. 1, which is produced under the banner Studio LSD Limited, has been a part of the industry for quite some time and confessed that the grind is never ending. He said, “The hustle never really ends just changes shape. In the early days, you're running behind auditions and trying to prove your worth.”

“With time, it becomes about staying relevant, choosing the right projects, and growing creatively. It’s a continuous cycle. You can never be complacent,” he added.

While acting is all about the glitz and glamour for an outsider, the actor mentioned that every character comes with its own challenges. He said, “From the outside, acting may seem effortless, especially when people see the glam, lights, and red carpets. But every new character brings new demands. Even if you’ve done similar roles, the emotional texture is different. No two performances can ever be the same, so it’s never truly easy.”

For Abhishek, his life gives him creative inspiration. He said, “I observe people how they move, react, and respond to different situations. Also I enjoy watching performances from actors I admire these things keep me creatively fuelled, especially during long projects.”

And he deeply values the feedback that comes from the audiences. He shared that it tells you what’s working and what’s not and added, “While I don’t let it override the character arc or director’s vision, I do use it to subtly refine expressions or reactions. The connection with the audience is important, and sometimes, that feedback becomes part of the performance.”

He is excited about the opportunities that have come up with the evolving landscape of entertainment. “The expansion of platforms TV, films, OTT, short films has opened up endless opportunities. Stories now have space to breathe, and characters are written with more depth. As an actor, it’s exciting to know that there’s no one path you can explore many shades and still find your place,” Abhishek ended.
