As viewers and fans, we are bound to feel disheartened when it is confirmed that our favourite show is ending, right? At times, it is the network that decided to pull the plug and at times it is the creator of the series who decides to wrap things up to give it a fitting conclusion.
The latter is the reason that NBC's The Good Place is all set to be pulled off-air after airing its fourth and final season. The show was created by one of the most prolific showrunners in the form of Michael Schur, who as we know has been responsible for two of the most legendary comedies (The Office and Parks & Recreation.) The other-worldly comedy starring Ted Danson and Kristen Bell in leading roles was never designed to be a long-running series said, Michael.
"Obviously because of that DNA, where status quos get blown up so frequently, this is not a show that is destined to be on for nine years," he told THR in December. "It's not a 200-episode, Friends kind of a deal. It's not a hangout show. So, yeah, we've given it a lot of thought, and we have a certain plan, which I think you'll get the sense of in the fairly near future."
With the final season news, there's additional pressure on NBC to launch a new comedy hit to air alongside the fading Will & Grace revival, modest performer but critical favourite Superstore and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, especially as The Good Place is a short-order series and runs 13 episodes per season.
