Gautam Rode: I have always believed in an eco friendly diwali as I don't think I could ever enjoy myself when my environment and surroundings are being harmed. And in this day and age there are so many alternatives to celebrating festivals in an eco friendly manner, that I personally make it a point to follow them and help keep the environment pollution free to the most I can! And I really urge you all to do your bit and try and remain eco friendly whilst celebrating Diwali, even in the smallest possible way. Only when we strive to make a change, can we expect to see a change coming in from others!
Shantanu Maheshwari: We should all definitely aim at celebrating an eco friendly Diwali not just this year, but every year as it's very important for our environment and future generation. In this current era, these things are in the need of the hour, and as they say change starts from oneself, so only if we do our bit and change can we see others changing themselves to do the same. So along with the fun filled celebrations of the festival, it is extremely important to keep in mind our surroundings and those living in them. Specially the animals, strays living on the roads who get petrified with loud noises which can really traumatize them. Hence while not compromising on our celebrations, we really need to take certain precautions at the same time and also make sure of being a lot more sensitive to these animals by not harming their well being in anyway through the festivities.
Debina Bonnerjee: I feel that following an eco friendly and environment friendly Diwali celebration is very important nowadays! Somehow my dog isn't scared of firecrackers and infact runs out to see whats happening when he hears the sound of them, but I am personally quite frightened of them and always avoid them when on the road as the loud sounds scare me! I remember a few years ago, Gurmeet and I had bought firecrackers worth a lot of money to celebrate with, and when we eventually burnt them all, with all the smoke and pollution it caused it really felt like I was burning all my money as well as harming my environment and surroundings. So that bit struck me slowly, and now I make sure to keep my Diwali nice and simple, with earthen diyas, lights and nothing at all that causes any kind of strain to my surroundings.
Sourabh Raaj Jain: I believe in going the eco friendly way when it comes to celebrating Diwali. My family and I don't like bursting crackers at all and it has been years since we have last burst any crackers. They cause a lot of noise pollution and smoke and harm to the environment, animals as well who do tend to get very scared of the loud noises, and that is something which I am not okay with! We prefer going the sweet and simple way, with good food, mithai, diyas and gifting each other gifts on the day.
Juhi Parmar: I love celebrating Diwali in a simple way. I am not a fan of loud noises and pollution and so avoid all those big and loud firecrackers which tend to cause a lot of pollution, smoke and harm to our surroundings. I prefer lighting diyas though and get very basic crackers like fuljhari for my daughter Samaira to enjoy, so she gets a basic feel of how we would celebrate Diwali as kids, and at the same time not cause any inconvenience to where we live, as with all the global warming and new age issues, we all in someway need to follow the eco friendly pattern.
