'It's a privilege to be associated with Aamir' - Ayaz Khan

Television actors’ migration to Bollywood seems to be the latest trend in the industry. Right from actors like Rajeev Khandelwal to Prachi Desai, Karnvir Bohra to Shilpa Anand, our television actors are thinking of expanding their horizons. Ayaz Khan is another actor who joins the bandwagon.

Ayaz Khan, who plays the handsome Dr. Shubhankar in Dill Mill Gaye, will be seen in the Aamir Khan production Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na that releases worldwide today. The film sees the debut of Aamir's nephew, Imraan and along with him is Genelia. So how was it like working with the perfectionist? Ayaz replies, “Firstly I’d like to say it has been a very slow and gradual journey to get where I am today. It feels very gratifying. Aamir and Abaasji chose me to play this role and it is indeed an honor for me, because it indicates their faith in my capabilities. This makes me feel on top of the world and I feel that my life is moving along the right track.”

Ask him about his role in the movie and Ayaz is as reticent as his producer as he says, “Well, my producer is not too fond of talking about his movies in advance, so all I can say about my role is that it has different shades that I get to portray in different situations. I am very fortunate to get such a role.”

Still, we got him to talk and giving us an insight on the storyline of the movie, he quips, “It is a love story but on a much deeper level. It’s not like one of those flaky romantic childish love movie. It has a lot of sensibility, meaning and depth to it.” On an ending note, we ask him his expectations from the movie. “From what I have heard from my co-stars, my performance is good and is appreciated by all. The rest I leave to the audience. It’s up to them to like my character or not. I am just keeping my fingers crossed”, says Ayaz as he signs out.
