It is fun to play the character of Raman: Karan Patel

He is seen as arrogant yet loving husband in Star Plus' Ye Hai Mohabbatein. Yes he is Karan Patel who is winning accolades for his character of Raman Kumar Bhalla. While he has returned to TV after a gap of almost a year and acting flawlessly in the show. In conversation with us, we asked him what he did all this while after his debut show Kasturi ended, doing reality shows, character in depth and more...

Here is what Karan has to say...

Its been four years after Kasturi you have returned to TV with Ye Hai Mohabbatein, so  what appealed you to take up this show?

The concept of the show as it is very unique and different. It attracted me more towards my character and so I decided that this would be my come back show.

How special is this show to you as it has made you win many awards?

This show is very special as it not only marks my come back but also in just short span of six months the show has done so well that people are loving it and I can see the love through India forums.

Do you relate to the character of Raman?

I am very much different in real life than I am on screen. I am very fun loving and chirpy in real life. These are two different characters and so it is more fun to play the character Raman.  

How did you manage playing for  BCL and shooting for Ye Hai Mohabbatein?

Luckily BCL is also owned by Balaji so there was not too much of problem of adjusting the dates and so it went smoothly.

Are you inclined towards cricket?

I have played cricket a lot in childhood and now we watch it on TV. It is fun to play cricket and I think it's a way of unwinding ourselves from our busy schedules and work stress. Playing a sport makes me feel fresh.

How is your association with Balaji and Ekta Kapoor?

I have not worked anywhere outside Balaji if I am not mistaken. Balaji is more like a family and Ekta is a very close friend of mine. She is like a mentor and a guide to me. So I can say Balaji is my comfort zone.

You have participated in two dance reality shows Nach Baliye 3 and Jhalak Dikhhlaa Jaa Season 6 so if given a chance would you opt for dancing in future?

No, now I will only judge a dancing show (smiles).
