With many crimes occurring in our country, our TV actors speak about the stringent ways to make women free from such crimes and ways to curb it...

Hiten Tejwani who is recently seen in Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi - I don't think that anyone can specify reason for such cases but I feel severe punishment or strict action should be taken to stop such crimes. Also gun rights should be given to Indian women to save themselves from such cases.

Payal Rohatgi who is seen in Sony TV's Humsafars - Accept it or not, but we are living in a male dominated society. Women maybe emotionally very strong but otherwise we have to take extreme care of ourselves. No matter in what profession we are; acting, housewives, corporate sector. Even when we are traveling or going out with your husband, boy friend or brother, you cannot rely on anyone. Taking care of yourself is the first step that should be taken. People today know me because of being in a profession like acting, but I make sure that I am familiar to the people around me. Be it my spot or my driver or the event organizer or even the hotel where I stay. For girls who are in schools and colleges, they should know through which route they are traveling and if they do not know, they should on their GPRS then and there. We as women need to be very much aware.
Talking about the reasons, I would again say we are living in a male dominated society. Even if we go to a vegetable vendor and bargain with him, it is like we are hurting his male ego. Women start the world and they are the who end too. I do not want to get into blame game, but all of us are educated and live in metros, yet all of this is happening. I would just say, be aware, no matter what!

Upasana Singh who is seen in Comedy Nights with Kapil says - I think the increase in the crime is because our law system is very weak. Today if a boy commits a crime, he is not scared because he knows that he will not get any severe punishment for the crime he has done and so rapes are increasing in India. Why the ratio of rapes is not increasing in other countries? It’s because the law system in other countries is very strong. I believe that the law should be made were the rapist should get a very severe punishment like they should be made to stand naked in the public where people can throw stones on them or their hands, legs or other body parts should be cut off. If such severe punishments are given to the criminal, then the crime might decrease in our country. I believe that girls should be given the training of martial arts and karate so that they can protect them self. Every school must make it compulsory to teach girls self-defense. There is a law been made where a girl can murder the person who is trying to rape her and I would suggest that the girls must use the power to protect themselves. My parents have always taught me that girls and boys both are equal and every parent must treat their children equally. The girls who have become the victim must get the support from the society because whatever happened with them was not their mistake.

Gaurav Chopra who was seen in Colors’ Uttaran says - First thing I would like to say is that we only shoot to notice about this particular crime, it will continue to be around. Instead our effort should be to curtail it to bring it down and then finally to finish it off as expecting to bring changes instantly is not going to happen. I think we should set some examples with the kind of punishments that law and force applies on the attacker where he has fear in his mind that if he does not control himself then he has to face dire consequences. Then I would appeal to women for not putting up in any kind of circumstances that might be risky. At first instance of feeling something wrong you should take action to save yourselves. It is a question of understanding and being aware of the danger around you. I also think as social responsibility we should develop soft protection skills within women also with old age and children who are not physically strong and can be taken advantage of.
