Bollywood is abuzz with reports of a fallout between filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actor Ranveer Singh, once considered one of the most successful director-actor duos in the industry. Their past collaborations, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani, and Padmaavat not only set the box office on fire but also cemented Ranveer's image as a powerhouse performer and Bhansali's golden boy.

However, it seems the tides have turned. According to reports by entertainment insiders, the rift stems from Bhansali's casting decision for his upcoming magnum opus Love & War, where Ranbir Kapoor has been roped in as the male lead. The film, which also stars Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, is being described as an epic love triangle set against a grand historical backdrop, very much in Bhansali's signature style.

What reportedly triggered the tension was Bhansali initially offering Ranveer a secondary lead in the film. Ranveer, who has headlined all his Bhansali projects so far, chose to decline the role. Sources suggest that he felt sidelined and overlooked, especially with Ranbir Kapoor, his long-time industry contemporary, taking centre stage in a Bhansali venture.

The strain became more visible during Ranveer Singh's 40th birthday celebrations on July 6, where the guest list was strictly limited to close friends and family. Notably, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was missing from the list, a telling sign, as the two once shared a close personal and professional bond.

While Bhansali has already begun work on Love & War, with pre-production in full swing and filming reportedly starting later this year, Ranveer has moved on to Dhurandhar, a new project directed by Aditya Dhar. The action-packed drama will feature a stellar cast including Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal.

As fans speculate whether this rift is temporary or marks the end of an iconic Bollywood pairing, all eyes are now on Love & War, which is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about films in recent times, both for its casting choices and the drama behind the scenes.
