Is Kapil Sharma’s Show Scripted? Sumona Chakravarti Reveals the Truth

Sumona Chakravarti, who played Kapil Sharma’s onscreen wife for years, recently opened up about her experience on The Kapil Sharma Show. While the show is known for its spontaneous humor, Sumona revealed that, for her, everything was pre-planned and scripted. She also shared how comedy didn’t come naturally to her and that she treated her role as pure acting.

In a conversation on Small Towns Big Stories on YouTube, Sumona admitted that she had to put in a lot of effort to fit into the comedy genre. She further explained how she prepared for her scenes. “Hume jab script milte the, I was one of those people, I used to sit with pen and paper, highlight, read, memorise word-to-word because punch lines hoti hai. And more than that, I used to also remember Kapil’s lines as timing is also important.”

I have my own personal sense of humor, but my personal sense of humour won’t suit this show, it won’t work here. So for me, it was genuinely pure acting. It took a lot of time to do it.

Sumona also shared that while others often improvised, she stuck to the script. She recalled how Kapil Sharma appreciated her ability to remember not just her own lines but also his, which helped maintain the show’s flow.

Currently, Sumona is exploring new opportunities in films and OTT projects. She has been keeping a low profile and was last seen on Khatron Ke Khiladi.

Interestingly, as Kapil Sharma returns with The Great Indian Kapil Show, Sumona is not part of the new season. Reports suggest that while she was in Romania for Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, she was not informed about Kapil’s Netflix show. Sources claim she was disappointed and upset over being left out.
