Is it the Coolie incident that helped Amitabh Bachchan grab the Dadasaheb Phalke Award?

Amitabh Bachchan has struggled throughout his life to grab a high-seat in Bollywood. The legendary actor has contributed a lot to the Indian film industry and to acknowledge his efforts, the actor was supposed to be conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. However, the superstar believes he is not worthy of the prestigious award.

His art and physical attributes have proved to be the assets that grabbed eyeballs from all around the globe. But, he suffered a major injury while shooting for Coolie and it is being suspected that his sheer efforts to cope with the injury helped him win the award. 

The incident took place 37-years-ago which led to Amitabh being hospitalized and on the same date, it was announced that the actor will be receiving the award. 

The infamous incident set the country in a major shock and soon his body struggled to work and keep his on-screen magic alive. He was discharged from the hospital after undergoing a two-month-long treatment. 

Yesterday, celebrity paparazzi Viral Bhayani shared an old clip which saw Amitabh getting out of his car as his family, fans and the media welcome him. Later, Amitabh is seen touching his father - Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s feet and this was ‘the first time in his life when Amitabh saw him break down’. He then goes to his mother, Teji Bachchan, for 'Charan Sparsh' and she kisses him on the forehead.

In the clip, Amitabh is seen getting out of a car as his family, fans and the media welcome him.
