Interstellar, directed by Christopher Nolan, is proving to be a box office success in India during its re-release, even as it enters its sixth day. After collecting Rs 1.85 crore on its fifth day, which was a working Tuesday, the film is anticipated to experience a slight dip of around 10% today, bringing its estimated earnings to about Rs 1.67 crore. Despite this minor decline, projections for the film's total collection remain optimistic, with experts estimating it could reach Rs 30 crore by the end of its re-release run.

Since its original release in 2014, Interstellar has captivated audiences around the world with its breathtaking cinematography, Hans Zimmer's unforgettable score, and a deeply emotional storyline set in a dystopian future. The film tells the story of a group of astronauts, led by Matthew McConaughey's character Cooper, who embark on a mission to find a new home for humanity as Earth faces ecological collapse. The film features a stellar cast, including Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, and Michael Caine, among others.

Interstellar is currently screening in both standard and premium formats across India, which has significantly enhanced its box office performance. However, it will soon lose its IMAX availability to upcoming films like Chhaava and Captain America: Brave New World, both set to release on February 14. This transition is likely to temporarily slow its earnings. Nevertheless, once Interstellar regains access to some premium screens, it is expected to conclude its run on a high note.

The resurgence of Interstellar highlights the increasing demand among Indian audiences for thought-provoking cinema. The film's return to theaters was postponed from December 2024 to February due to Pushpa 2 occupying IMAX screens last year, but its strong performance now appears to be a result of the pent-up desire for Nolan's visionary storytelling.

Originally, the film grossed $681 million globally, securing its status as one of the highest-grossing sci-fi films ever. Even in 2025, over a decade since its release, Interstellar remains relevant, addressing timeless themes of love, survival, sacrifice, and environmental decline.

With its scientifically grounded yet emotionally rich narrative, combined with breathtaking visuals and a haunting score, Interstellar continues to be a cinematic masterpiece that endures through the years.
