Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 25 (IANS) Popular Malayalam character artiste and comedian Innocent was Thursday chosen for this year's Sathyan Film Award.
The award was instituted in the memory of legendary Malayalam actor Sathyan who reigned as a superstar till he passed away in 1971.
Innocent, who is also the president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes, said he was honoured to have been chosen for the award because he had idolised Sathyan since childhood.
'It is indeed a great honour for me to get the award because Sathyan was a great actor and an award in his name makes it all the more sweet,' Innocent told IANS.
A three-member jury headed by film director K. Madhu chose the actor for this award.
The award, which carries a cash prize of Rs.10,000 and a medallion, will be presented to Innocent here on Sathyan's 60th birth anniversary on Nov 9.ALSO READ: Vir Das clinches the International Emmy Award for ‘Vir Das: Landing’ under comedy genre
