New Delhi, June 17 (IANS) Indian music will soon echo in the streets of South Africa and the US as popular fusion music band Indian Ocean is all set for an overseas tour.

'The band would be going on a tour of America and South Africa in August or September this year,' Amit Kilam, the drummer of the band, told IANS.

The band, which has been creating music for the past 18 years, will be playing in seven US cities and in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The band first performed outside India in 2001 in London and then at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. They have also played in several other countries including New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, Germany and Singapore.

Rahul Ram anchors Indian Ocean along with Sushmit Sen on the guitars. While Asheem Chakraborty plays the tabla, the versatile Amit Kilam accompanies on the drums, vocals and many other forms of percussion.

Indian Ocean is also set to release an album of their live performances in Delhi July 22.

'The album is called 'Live In Delhi' and is a two-hour long DVD,' Kilam said.

The band, which has produced popular songs like 'Kandisa', 'Jhini' and 'Ma Rewa', will be coming out with a brand new album for a movie called 'Bhumi'. They have earlier given music for Anurag Kashyap's film 'Black Friday'.
