Thiruvananthapuram, March 8 (IANS) Didi Damodaran, daughter of famous Malayalam scriptwriter T. Damodaran, has completed her first script for a Malayalam film to be directed by award-winning director Jairaj.
Inaugural prayers for the untitled film were held here Saturday.
Didi, soon turning 40, is an English teacher by profession. Speaking to IANS, she said the film deals with gender issues.
'I am extremely glad that it all went well because Jairaj gave me all freedom to work on the script. Since my early days, I have seen my father working on several scripts. So it was not that difficult,' she said.
The film stars Suresh Gopi, Vineeth, Manoj K. Jayan, Vimala Raman and Lekshmi Gopalaswami.
She said she had been a fair copy assistant to her father who scripted more than 70 films, including some big hits that created super-stars like Jayan, Mammootty and Mohanlal.
'Right from my childhood I have been assisting my father and I felt that experience helped me a great deal when I decided to do one. This was written 18 months back and since then I have been polishing it. Finally when Jairaj heard the story, he agreed and that's how it happened,' said Didi.
