Vinay Pathak's latest release 420 IPC on Zee5 has been constantly in the news, and it turned out to be quite a suspense drama after all. India Forums got a chance to talk to the actor, where he spoke to us about the boom in OTT space, working with the entire team, his thought process and functioning as an actor, and more. Read the conversation here.

What do you have to say about the boom in the OTT space?

Recognition is okay, if we work, we will be visible and the fact that the OTT platform is here for everyone to see and sample and enjoy and indulge in, I think its great news and all I can say is 'yay'! (smiles)

For someone who has been working across all mediums, what has your experience been and is there a shift you've noticed?

I think now, the job is more defined, which I like and it's more precise, it doesn't linger, if its a 27 day schedule, it will happen in those number of days and at the most, 1-2 months. Given the kind of films I do, I have been doing and I am doing, they don't take years to be made and its a nice things. However, it is true that small films do take time, and after lockdown, we saw that all films take time to release so we are all in the same boat.

What was the thought process before taking up the movie?

It's been very simple and I always keep it that way, if I like the script, I love to be a part of that storytelling and that's what happened with 420 IPC. When Manish Gupta gave me the script of the film and I loved it because it was written like that, and then we met over the due course of the year and we shot for the film in end 2020, and now it's out there. The journey of the film has been lovely.

The movie has an ensemble cast, how was it working with everyone?

Ranvir and Gul were someone I have been friends with from many years and we've worked together on more than one occasion. It was pleasant and familiar working with them in the set. Rohan was someone I have never met before, I met him during the process of reading the film and he is such a lovely, genial, cultured boy, so well brought up, right head on his shoulder, sheet on the ground. For all three of us, it has been a very pleasant process working with each other in creating this ensemble.

As someone who has been around for such a long time, is there a certain kind of role you still wish to do?

There's nothing like that, for me story is paramount and how the script is written is very very important. Whatever I am supposed to play, if I am an integral part of the plot, it's very exciting for an actor to be one of the cogs of the wheel. So, I don't have any plans like that, I am very unambitious like that; I am sorry I say it like that, but the truth of the matter is my ambition lies into a great story and a good script and that's where it stops. I never see myself as a character larger than the story or the movie or the series, where it's more about me than about the story.
