"I just stood blank in front of the camera for the first 15 minutes" - Sandiip Sikcand on acting again

Producer Sandiip Sikcand, renowned for his roles in acclaimed shows such as "Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum" and the recent hit "Bohot Pyaar Karte Hai", will soon be seen in a web series. Sandiip is currently shooting in Punjab for a web show, and he opened up on the same to us.

Giving details about the web show, he said, "Phagwara is a small Punjab town two hours away from Chandigarh. I am here shooting for my web series. After I announced on Instagram to want to act, the producer called me. He is an independent producer and director who has made a film with huge ratings, like a 9.3 rating on IMDB and many awards; the film is called Alpha Beta Gama."

Sharing more detail about the series, Sandiip Sikand shared, "The producer approached me to post, seeing my pictures and knowing that I am open to and looking for good acting projects too. Also, it is an entirely negative role set in futuristic India set in 2038. I have done negative before, but this is out and out dark. This has an ensemble of actors from across the globe; we have actors from Paris, the USA, Greece and more.. it is an international cast. It is an OTT release."

He added, "I am facing the camera after seven years; the last one was for Netflix, so there was huge nervousness, and the first 15 mins were awful. I just stood blank in front of the camera, and I blanked out. Strangely it started raining, and that gave me time to get back to the room and rehearse, and when I got back, I said all the lines in one go..which made the director stand up and say, "Now that I've said your lines, let's start acting." It felt like coming back home. It has been great...I want more of such strong characters. 

Asking about this phase, Sandiip shared, "I am enjoying this phase. Once an actor, always an actor. Alongside, I am also producing two Marathi shows and also pitching for Hindi shows as a producer is on, but I am also in touch with casting agencies for more acting projects.
