Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur are busy birds these days and rightfully so. After all, they are gearing up for the release of Jersey. Helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the movie will mark Shahid and Mrunal’s first collaboration on the big screen and their onscreen chemistry has been the talk of the town for a while now.
Meanwhile, in a recent media interaction, Shahid was asked about how even after two successful decades in the industry, does performing well at the box office still concern him or do does believe in Jo bhi hoga dekha jayega (we will see what happens)?
To this, the Udta Punjab actor replied,
"Jo bhi hoga dekha jayega pe life chalti hai. (Life goes on this very statement of we will see whatever happens) I think that's always a good strategy. You always have to get up regardless of what happens that's how it is with my life. I will complete 19 yrs in the industry this year so I have been here for a while."
The Jab We Met actor then elaborated,
"I feel apki film ka potential hota hai uska genere aur reach kitni hoti hai depend on that and also on the different subjects that films are based on. As an actor at least i took a little time to learn to understand this kyuki main acting background se aata hu aur stardom background se nahi. (I come from the background of acting and not stardom). My father is an actor so he always use to discuss with me in a pure way also my mom has been an artist for a long time now so they always talked about the art and not about the business because they never knew anything aboutt it. So i understood it with my self.”
He concluded by saying,
"Different genres have a different audiences. Of course, box office is important but I feel people should relate more to my film so all I need is the love of the audience.Logo ke dil ko chuye ye film maine ye sochke ye film ki hai. I think aap jab dil ko chu jate hai toh numbers are not important. Dil ko chhuna important hai. ( The film should touch the heart of audiences, when you touch their hearts numbers are not that important)."
For the uninitiated, Jersey happens to be the much talked about remake of the National Award-winning Telugu movie by the same name, which featured Nani in the lead. This Gowtam Tinnanuri directorial will feature Shahid in the role of a cricketer. Apart from Shahid and Mrunal, Jersey also features Pankaj Kapur in a key role. The sports drama is slated to release on April 14 this year and will be witnessing a box office clash with Yash starrer KGF: Chapter 2.
