I am looking forward to playing more challenging roles: Nishant Malkhani

Actor Nishant Malkhani is busy shooting for his upcoming series “Johri”, which revolves around one of the biggest scams in Indian banking history. He plays the lead role of an ordinary man, who goes on to becoming a diamond mogul, in the 36-episode series, and said that he wants to portray characters which take him out of his comfort zone.

“The series just went on floors and my role is quite exciting. I have never played a fraudster before and though it might seem like a normal character there is a certain mannerism to such roles that an actor needs to adapt, and that makes it challenging. But I love playing different characters, and I am looking forward to playing more challenging roles,” he said.

“Johri” will stream on Attrangii app and TV and has been produced by Endemol Shine. Directed by Partho Mitra, it also features Charu Asopa.

Nishant made his OTT debut with “Ragini MMS: Returns”, which was produced under ALTBalaji, in 2017. He was later seen in “Shubh Mangal Mein Dangal”. The young actor has also finished shooting for “Uddhamgarh” that will hit the OTT platforms soon.

Talking about the OTT boom in the country, Nishant said, “I think it all started majorly during the pandemic and it’s going to stay forever. It’s like a web actually, smartphones are so cheap these days, and people can buy it so easily, then the subscription to the OTT platforms has also been made at a reasonable rate, so that more and more people use it. And to complete the demand, there are so many series being made.”

“And the best part is that the audience knows it will come to an end. It can only have a certain number of episodes, and then you will have to either wait for the second season, or move on to the next series, so it’s all connected, and that’s why OTT platforms are doing so good not just in the country, but globally,” he ended.
