Hero - Movie Review

Cast: Sooraj Pancholi, Athiya Shetty; Director: Nikhil Adwani; Rating: **1/2

Bollywood does it yet again, a remake of a fantastic classic movie. Unlike its other counter-parts the movie is a decent show and doesn't disappoint you to a very major level. Nikhil Advani's Hero is a decent remake of the Jackie Shroff starrer by the same name, but does have its share of potholes and a major share indeed.

Hero is a love story of Sooraj and Radha. Sooraj who is a local goon kidnaps Radha who the daughter of the IG of Police. The tale is about their struggle to be in love and fight against the world for that.

Sooraj Pancholi Poses During Promotions of Hero

Sooraj Pancholi plays the role of Sooraj in the film who is a local goon. Sooraj makes a power packed entry and quite resembles Salman Khan in Maine Pyar Kiya. The innocence and anger would remind you of Salman for sure. He has a very strong screen presence and is quite a sight to watch. Though he has a long way to go, but this star kid is sure to stay around for quite some time. With a mentor like Salman, one could be definite about that. For all you know, Sooraj would be the next Salman, the bad boy everybody loves. Aditya Pancholi plays a small role in the film, as Pasha who is like a God father to Sooraj. This father-son duo is adorable to see on screen.

Athiya Shetty Poses During Promotions of Hero

Athiya Shetty plays the role of Radha, the daughter of the IG of Police. Seems like her characterization was never decided so she was just made to act like a rich spoilt girl, and she is quite annoying in that one. There is something that is a miss with her, and by the time you find that out, she is already screaming on top of her lungs. One suggestion to her would be, please put on some weight, I mean size zero is one thing, but she is like size negative.

Hero

Both Sooraj and Athiya have managed to pull off a decent chemistry, of which a major share goes to Sooraj. The editing of the movie is quite crisp, keeping the movie a little less than two and half hours. The major turn off of the movie, well other than the chirpy heroine, was the number of song. In fact the 1st half of the movie was filled with songs. The songs are mostly unwanted and not very catchy. The title track, mein hu hero tera and yadaan teriyaan are melodious and beautiful compositions.

All in all Hero is a well attempted remake, with quite some potholes here and there. Sooraj steals the show for sure. 1st half is full of songs and the 2nd half is full of melodrama. But this one could be given a watch, after all it's a new 'Hero' that we have now!
