The much-awaited trailer of Heads of State is finally out, and fans are already loving the fun mix of powerful punches, sharp jokes, and that old-school buddy-action vibe. Slated for release on Prime Video on July 2, 2025, this film promises an entertaining ride with action, drama, and plenty of comic relief. The trailer gives us a glimpse of a global conspiracy that puts the US President and UK Prime Minister on the same team—well, kind of.
John Cena plays President Will Derringer, while Idris Elba is UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke. Their public rivalry is already a global meme, but things take a serious turn when a dangerous enemy threatens world peace. Both leaders have no choice but to trust each other—something neither of them is good at. The trailer features fast-paced chase scenes, over-the-top stunts, and Cena’s classic comic timing. “This is not a bromance. This is a nightmare,” Elba’s character declares, and Cena replies with a grin, “Then let’s dream big.”

She’s the cool-headed strategist who keeps both these hot-headed leaders in check. “You two need to stop acting like schoolboys on a field trip,” she says in a no-nonsense tone. Fans are already loving her role and calling it a perfect comeback to the action-comedy genre.
The film is directed by Ilya Naishuller, the man behind Hardcore Henry and Nobody, and this time he brings together the nostalgia of the 90s with today’s sleek style. The background music, punchlines, and over-the-top set pieces remind viewers of classic buddy films like Rush Hour and Bad Boys.
Along with the lead trio, the film also features Carla Gugino, Jack Quaid, Stephen Root, Sarah Niles, Richard Coyle, and Paddy Considine. Heads of State will release in multiple Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.
With a star-studded cast, hilarious dialogues, and thrilling scenes, Heads of State might just be the perfect watch for your mid-week movie night.
