Harshvardhan Rane earns love as he declares he will step down from Sanam Teri Kasam 2 if old cast is repeated

One of the biggest successes of 2025 in the re-run movies category was Sanam Teri Kasam. The film released in 2016 had made just Rs 9 crores at the box office. Over the years, its songs and the iconic chemistry between Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane made it a cult hit. It was watched on TV multiple times by fans. When it came in theatres, it made Rs 40 crores. This was the highest box office number for a movie that was again released in cinemas. Visuals of fans weeping in cinema halls seeing the touching love story of Saru (Mawra Hocane) and Inder (Harshvardhan Rane) went viral.

Within days, the filmmakers Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru announced Sanam Teri Kasam 2. It was assumed to be with the same cast. As we know, the character of Mawra Hocane dies in the first movie. Harshvardhan Rane will continue as Inder. Now, Rane has clearly said that he will not be a part of the movie if people from the old cast are repeated. It is obvious he is indicating at Mawra Hocane. He wrote on his Instagram stories…

While I am grateful for the experience however as things stand, and after reading the direct comments made about my country, I have made a decision to respectfully decline to be a part of Sanam Teri Kasam part 2 if there is any possibility of the previous cast being repeated.

This clearly means that makers will have to avoid a cameo from Mawra if they want to retain Harsh. The rest of the cast is Indian. After Operation Sindoor, Mawra Hocane termed India’s attack as cowardly. She wrote on X, “Strongly condemn India’s cowardly attack on Pakistan. Innocent civilians have lost their lives. May Allah protect us all, may sense prevail. Ya Allah ho Ya Hafizo #PakistanZindabad.”
