Birthdays are said to be filled with yesterday's memories, today's joys, and tomorrow's dreams. On this optimistic note, BollyCurry is here to bring forth its birthday wishes for some of the tinsel town celebrities that are responsible for recreating history, namely Farida Jalal, Aamir Khan, and Rohit Shetty.
Born on March 14, 1949, Farida Jalal
is a legendary actress-comedian of the Indian Film industry. After being
pronounced the winner of a talent hunt at a Filmfare Awards function, Jalal
forayed into Bollywood with her debut in Tarachand Barjatya's Taqdeer (1967). Many are unbeknownst to
the fact that she had acted as a child artiste in the 1960's feature film Chaudhvin Ka Chand. Although she earned
her way through a series of roles that portrayed her as the rejected sidekick,
she managed to carve a niche with the powerful impact of her performances.
After strong deliveries in movies like the critically acclaimed Aradhana (1969) and Bobby (1973), she went on to do many more like Dharmatma (1975), Naya Daur (1978),
Yaarana (1981), Laadla (1994), Dilwale
Dulhania Le jayenge (1995), Raja
Hindustani (1996), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997),
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Kya Kehna (2000), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001), The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002), Garv: Pride and Honour (2004), and most recently, Student of the Year (2012).
Next on the list is the man who took B-town with
storm, the perfectionist, actor, director, producer, playback singer,
screenwriter and television host, Aamir Khan. Khan was born in 1965,
to film producer Tahir Hussain and Zeenat Hussain. He is the nephew of
producer-director Nasir Hussain and the uncle to the popular actor Imran
Khan.
After a small stint as a child artiste in Nasir Hussain's musical Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973) and Tahir
Hussain's movie Madhosh (1974) and as
an assistant director in Manzil Manzil (1984)
and Zabardast (1985), he went onto
make an exemplary acting debut with the modern-day rendition of Romeo and Juliet in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), which
catapulted him to immediate stardom. He has, since then, been a force to reckon
with. His filmography consists of innumerable critically and commercially successful
movies that keep raising the bar for the other movies to come. A few of his
evergreen movies include Dil (1990), Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar (1992), Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Lagaan (2001), Dil Chahta Hai (2001), Rang
De Basanti (2006), Fanaa (2006), Taare Zameen Par (2007), 3 Idiots (2009), PK (2014), and many others.
The day also marks the birthday of the
man who not only owns the cake but eats it fully too, Rohit Shetty. Shetty was
born in 1973 to M.B. Shetty, who is popularly known as 'Fighter Shetty' for
being a movie fight master, and junior artiste Ratna Shetty. He stepped into
Bollywood at a young age of 17, as an assistant director for Phool Aur Kaante (1991). After a series
of movies like Suhaag (1994), Haqeeqat (1995), Zulmi (1999), Pyaar To Hona
Hi Tha (1998), Hindustan Ki Kasam (1973)
and Raju Chacha (2000), he made his directorial debut with the 2003 feature film Zameen.
The movie failed to garner any success, but his path to success was shaped with
the 2006 comedy Golmaal: Fun Unlimited.
Shetty did not tread back following the success of Golmaal Returns (2008), Golmaal
3 (2010), Singham (2011), Bol Bachchan (2012) and Chennai Express (2013). He has also worked
as a television judge and a host as well.
The
trio has contributed immensely to Bollywood and their names shall go down in
golden alphabets in the books of the industry. We, at BollyCurry, wish them with
our best and hope that they achieve success in all their upcoming ventures.
