The cricketing fever has just caught on, and the impact of Indian Premier League (IPL) can now be seen in the residents of Gokuldham society of the SAB show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, produced by Asit Kumar Modi.

When asked Dilip Joshi about the idea of playing a match he said, "We had thought of this particular script when the IPL season was on. But somehow, things could not be worked out then. We have now decided to carry on with the cricketing season, and being in India, there is no special reason for playing the game, as the cricketing fever is on 24/7".
Elaborating on the match the actor quips, "It so happens that when Tapu and his gang are playing cricket, the ball accidentally hits Bhide's house and he blasts out at Jetha. In this fight, Jetha challenges Bhide to play a game of cricket and this is how the match begins between Jabardast Jetha and Bindaas Bhide. The match will now be referred to as GPL (Gokuldham Premier League)".
The Producer Asit Kumar Modi of Neela Telefilms says, "The cast is more than happy to play a game of cricket. Soon, we will be seeing a rocking affair GPL (Gokuldham Premier League) in Gokuldham society. We have designed logos for our teams and have also called for sponsors. A winning trophy will be given to the winning team".
Well, as Mumbaikers await the rains, it looks as though only the Gokuldham residents are praying that rains don't disturb their cricketing schedule…
