Mumbai, April 30 (IANS) Producer-director Shubhash Ghai, who is highly impressed by Bengali director Rituparno Ghosh's 'Nouka Dubi' based on a short story by Rabindranath Tagore, has dubbed it in Hindi as 'Kashmakash' and is set for release May 20.

Ghai, considering it an exemplary piece of work, wants to take it to a broader spectrum of audience. The story is taken from the bard's collection of short stories 'Galpo Guchho' published in 1912.

Ghai has roped in Oscar winning lyricist Gulzar to write its Hindi lyrics and translate it on the same tunes of Rabindra Sangeet in the film composed by Sanjoy Raja.

'I did not want to deprive Hindi audiences from seeing this beautiful film, so I have got it dubbed in Hindi with Hindi songs by Gulzar sahib.

'I have been a great fan of Rabindranath Tagore stories and music, so I am proud to produce this film with multiple national award winning director Rituparno Ghosh with a rich feel factor,' Ghai said in a statement.

Marvelling at the Hindi lyrics of Gulzar, he said: 'It's one of the best lyrics of Gulzar and one of the most memorable music albums I have experienced.'

Celebrating the 150th anniversary of Tagore, 'Kashmakash' is set to release in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Banglore, Hyderabad and other cities along with Bengali 'Nouka Dubi' on the same date in Bengal.
